 Diggers is the story of two generations of hard-living clam diggers trying to maintain their way of life in the face of the enormous change.  

 Ads on the TV in the local bar announce “a change coming over America” with the upcoming Ford-Carter presidential election, but local clam diggers are more worried about losing their already-fragile trade to an encroaching corporation.

Paul Rudd as Hunt and his life-long friends Cons (Josh Hamilton), Frankie (Ken Marino), and Jack (Ron Eldard) are each forced to consider new directions in life.  

 A sudden death propels the four best friends to look at their lives, as it does for Hunt’s recently-divorced and older sister, Gina (Maura Tierney), who works as a waitress at the local diner.

He accepts what appears to be a easy  job as a graveyard-shift night watchman at a museum of natural history. But during Larry’s watch, something extraordinary happens: the museum’s exhibits magically come to life. A fearsome T-Rex insists on a game of fetch (with one of his own skeleton bones);  Roman Gladiators, cowboys and Mayans  emerge from their diorama to wage epic battles;  and Teddy Roosevelt as a wax figure gives Larry important advice while harboring a crush for an Indian princess.  As things spiral wildly out of control, Larry must find a way to control the magic to stop a nefarious plot and save the museum…
